I started making these bowls to make a series with the treehouse. To carve out the tree design I used the wood panel carving chisels. First I was just carving the extra surface randomly and realised the way I carve affects quite a lot on the finish. (This leads to another series later on.)
I enjoyed people's reaction that they first think the white bit is the glaze dribbled from distance and then realise it is an intentional design.
This series was exhibited in the National Centre for Craft & Design and Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
